Learner Participation in Inclusive Education: Final dissemination webinar Timothy Bevan Thu, 06/25/2026 - 11:14 This video presents the final dissemination webinar for EASNIE’s Learner Participation in Inclusive Education (LPIE) activity. The activity explored how learners’ voices and experiences can inform more inclusive education practice and policy, with a focus on gathering and using meaningful qualitative data on learners’ socio-emotional participation, belonging and well-being. In the webinar, Professor Alan Dyson highlights the importance of complementing quantitative data with qualitative evidence in monitoring and evaluating inclusive education. He stresses that statistics alone cannot capture learners’ experiences of participation, belonging and well-being, and underlines the need for systems to listen directly to learners and ensure evidence leads to action at all levels. Teachers, learners, data analysts and policy-makers from countries that participated in the LPIE activity also reflect on their experiences, findings and key messages for improving inclusive education systems. They share insights from pilot projects using the photovoice methodology, where learners used photography and reflection to express what supports or hinders their participation in school life.

Inclusive Education in the World of Artificial Intelligence includes a forward-looking discussion on how artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping education, addressing the opportunities, risks and ethical considerations in leveraging technology for equitable learning. EASNIE Director João Costa opens the webinar, highlighting the importance of technology as both a driver of transformation and a potential source of divide in education systems, and emphasising the need for equitable, ethical and learner-centred digitalisation. Richard Culatta, CEO of the International Society for Technology in Education, shares practical insights into and examples of using AI to support uniquely human skills, such as creativity, curiosity and problem-solving, to help learners and educators. Katri Saarikivi, cognitive neuroscientist at the University of Helsinki, provides a neuroscience perspective on diversity in the classroom and explores how technology can support, but not substitute, human connection and belonging.
