Every summer, I find myself in conversations with teachers and administrators trying to figure out why their current pedagogical practices are or aren’t working. So, once I came across Harnessing the Science of Learning by Nathaniel Swain, Ph.D., I haven’t been able to stop recommending it.

A ceremony concluded yesterday evening, with a total of 101,572 applicants participating. Almost 80% of them will be able to start their studies in September, receiving state scholarships, while 71,467 have been admitted to the programs they indicated as their first choice.

The admission thresholds for physiotherapy programs have significantly changed this year. While last year, only ELTE required a score of 340 or higher to be admitted, this year a score of at least that amount was required for admission to five universities, with Pázmány experiencing the largest increase: the admission threshold increased by 144 points in a single year.

On Thursday evening, thousands of applicants eagerly awaited the moment when they would find out if they had been accepted into their dream university. Cedefop’s report highlights increased dropout risk for vulnerable vocational education and training (VET) learners due to the coronavirus pandemic and the shift to distance learning. Learners from disadvantaged backgrounds, migrants, those with disabilities, and others are at higher risk of falling behind and dropping out. The report details challenges faced by VET teachers, including lack of digital skills and resources. Maintaining progress in reducing early leaving from education requires focused support and implementation of Cedefop’s VET toolkit.
